I’m often asked when I knew photography was where I was meant to be. In middle school, I was given the opportunity to take a dark room photography class and get out of science class once a week. No brainer for me. But then, I was hooked! I took film classes whenever I got the chance and played around with cameras on the side. I ultimately landed at University of Mary Washington in Virginia which was the perfect place to focus my studies in the dark room (and focus the rest of my life following another passion and running for the cross country and track teams).
After receiving a BFA in studio arts/film photography, I taught in a variety of early childhood education settings. In June 2008, I took a leap of faith, launching Hough Photography, to showcase the work of art that is ever-evolving within each of our souls. It’s hard to say what type of photography I enjoy most. Can I say all of it? People make my heart sing from 1 day new to 100 years new. I love it all and pour my heart and soul into every moment.
