Today really was the perfect day! A morning spent with my niece, Ciana, and an afternoon spent with my nephew, Elijah. Elijah is in pre-K this year so it was fitting for him to get some fall pictures. A couple of weeks ago, my brother told Elijah at dinner that the next day at school was school picture day and a photographer would be coming in to take his picture. Elijah’s eyes widened and he said, “Auntie Elizabeth is coming to my school???” We had to break it to him that there are others who also take pictures…

Wednesdays are grandma and aunt days for Ciana while her big brother is in school. Today, Ciana and I decided to go on a hike in the soybean field across the street. What a great way to spend a gloomy morning. And leave it to ”Aunt Elizabeth” to bring new clothes and accessories for each adventure…

Yesterday was an amazing day for a collaboration project! It all started with Jackie contacting me with interest in a trash the dress session. After an amazing engagement session and an even more amazing wedding with Jackie and Evan, I was so excited. Lori, the incredibly talented makeup artist I met at Jackie’s wedding came up to Middletown and set up in my studio to do Jackie’s makeup before the shoot and Jackie and Evan put all of their trust in me when I asked if we could do the session out at a waterfall. Swim in a wedding dress in late October? SURE!
We had a fantastic time. Here’s a very mini sneak peek……

A special thanks to Lori!

Yesterday, I spent the day with Alyssa and Matt, photographing their gorgeous wedding in Centreville, Virginia. Alyssa and I met at Mary Washington where we both studied art and then both went on to teach elementary school art in northern Virginia. A year ago, I did Alyssa and Matt’s engagement session in Occoquan and ever since, I’ve been so excited for their wedding! Congratulations to you both!! What an awesome day!

And just a plug: Alyssa runs the Etsy store named Enticements, selling fresh, funky, modern fused glass jewelry. Basically, she’s amazing!

Last night, Aly and Darren had a GORGEOUS fall day for their wedding at Stone Manor Country Club. The atmosphere was so relaxed and right when I showed up, Aly said, “everyone is asking if I’m nervous and I don’t have a thing to be nervous about!” Yesterday was 8 years, 8 months, and 8 days since Aly and Darren’s first date!

Last weekend, my friend, Tamara, and I ran in the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco! What a fun weekend – 20,000 women coming together to run, show strength, and of course, go for that little blue box that every girl dreams of………… who can resist a marathon involving a Tiffany’s necklace?? Tamara and I ran the first eleven miles together when she split off to race for the finish of the half marathon while I went on to finish the full marathon. Despite the cold, rain, wind, an inevitable (yet surprisingly not as bad as they could have been) hills, we had a blast and are excited for our next race! And yes, we both came home with little blue boxes!
My name printed on the side of Niketown!

Run to be!

And we’re off………….

Small but still smiling……

25 miles in, and lots of rain later, my smile is just a little hidden…

And of course, a walk across the Golden Gate Bridge the afternoon of the marathon – perfect way to end the day!

This past fall, my dad and I went out to Distillery Lane Ciderworks to do a cider tasting. While we were there, I took a couple of pictures of the gorgeous apples at the orchard. Just this week, I was asked to supply one of my images for the header of the distillery’s new website! Check it out – a famous apple image. Makes me love fall!

Tonight, I met up with Heather and Ben at Black Ankle Vineyard in Mt. Airy, Maryland for the engagement session. What a fun couple – they actually volunteered to sit down amongst the chickens. Who wouldn’t love a couple like that??
