Beth and Eric – Middletown, Maryland
Date: Sunday May 30, 2010Posted in: Photography, Wedding Photography
Yesterday, I spent the day with Beth and Eric at Stone Manor Country Club in Middletown, Maryland. What was forecasted to be a stormy day turned out to be GORGEOUS! It was such a fun day – thanks so much for letting me part of the day! Congratulations Beth and Eric!! Enjoy your honeymoon cruise!

This morning, I had an art morning with my 2-year-old niece, Ciana, and my 4-year-old nephew, Elijah. After projects were finished, Elijah cuddled up with Leia to give her a little TLC. What a loving little guy.
I’m a proud aunt!

Liberia, West Africa: Exhibit
Date: Saturday May 29, 2010Posted in: Life, Photography, Portrait Photography
I am so excited to share some amazing news! After taking time to reflect after my trip to Africa, I knew I needed to do something to share my experiences, images, and feelings from the trip. I want to raise awareness for a community and place so full of spirit and so in need of support. I have been asked to exhibit my images in an individual artist showcase exhibit starting in July. More details to follow….

One morning this week, I was asked to come out to Black Ankle Vineyard to shoot images for publications. I did round one late in the week and am headed back for round two this coming week. Melissa came in, turned on the music, and gave me full artistic license to shoot this amazing, organic, green, and self-sufficient winery. This past week, I did mostly interior shots (I will only blog one right now) and next week, I am going to go back to photograph the sun rising over the vineyards and farm. I *LOVE* my job!
If you get a chance to go over there, do it! They have Fireside Fridays with folk music, incredible wines and local cheeses, and an awesome atmosphere. Here’s the website: http://www.blackankle.com/. Plus, what a great venue for your event – they put on killer weddings and parties!

Angie and Randy – The shack!
Date: Tuesday May 25, 2010Posted in: Photography, Portrait Photography
Tonight, I finally got to photograph at the shack on Old Middletown Road. The evening sun worked out perfectly for us after many, MANY days of rain, clouds, ……..basically, Mother Nature not being in on the plan with us. I had a new assistant this evening….
Nenita! Nenita was one of my Lucy School kids from last year and is into photography so she worked the artistic angles during the shoot. Here she is taking a break…

Angie and Randy did GREAT and we had a lot of fun!

When the Wright Family booked their shoot, they said I could choose the location somewhere out toward them. I decided on Centennial Park in Columbia, Maryland. When I showed up, I thought “oh no!” There was a lot of activity – and A LOT of cyclists. I had checked to make sure there wouldn’t be any events on Saturday morning but started to worry. Thankfully, everything I had checked was right and the Columbia Triathlon was being held the following day and Saturday was just set up day. Phew! It was fun hanging out with the Wright family! Family pictures are so fun (and always that thing that is put off until you realize it has been years since the last family portrait)!

You may recognize Carrie and Dustin from their wedding pictures last year. This year, Dustin surprised Carrie with a gift certificate for a portrait session with their two dogs. So sweet. We met in Baker Park (Frederick, Maryland) and took some pictures in a super cool tree, on the bridge, and around Culler Lake. It was a fantastic evening shoot!

Melissa and Clayton – my guinea pigs…. :)
Date: Thursday May 20, 2010Posted in: Photography, Portrait Photography
Whenever I drive into Boonsboro, I look at the silos and abandoned lot, knowing one day I would use it for a shoot. Tonight was the finally the night! Melissa and Clayton were the BEST sports. We walked through weeds, old lumber, nails, glass, bones (?), and explored this very unique area tonight. Next week, I am meeting up with these two again for their real engagement shoot in Annapolis where they got engaged! It was a fun (and interesting) night!

This afternoon, I met up with the Oliver family in Germantown for kid and family pictures. I absolutely love the energy and personality of this family! We played, laughed, explored, and tried NOT to completely squish the family dog. Such a fun afternoon!

On Sunday morning, I met Sharon and Joey at Sugarloaf Mountain. What a gorgeous place to hike and explore! We started our early morning shoot on the trails and then ended our shoot in downtown Frederick. Sharon and Joey were joined by Macy, the BEST dog (I’m convinced she knew what I was saying when I was getting her to look at the camera). I can’t wait until the July wedding, you two!!
