Kate and Ryan just moved into a row house in Baltimore, Maryland (Fells Point) a few weeks ago. Engagement pictures were a perfect opportunity to walk around and show off their new area. It was a great evening. I can’t wait for the wedding!

My Hough Photography other half, Nancy, has also become known as “the dancing photographer”. We continue to build her reputation each weekend. A group of women were sitting together late in the night this past weekend, all dancing from their chairs following hours of dancing in heels, so Nancy pulled up a chair and joined them. It was priceless.
An easy way to get Nancy dancing is by playing Black Eyed Peas – she can’t resist it.
Nancy – you’re awesome!!!

This past Sunday, Nancy and I were given the awesome opportunity to be showcased at a bridal show at Fauquier Springs Country Club. We got so many great pictures that you will be able to see on the Club’s website but here are a few….

Nancy got a picture of part of our display (and me!)

Aimee and Michael – Annapolis, Maryland
Date: Sunday April 25, 2010Posted in: Photography, Wedding Photography
Yesterday, someone was definitely watching over us! When Nancy and I headed out to Annapolis to start photographing Aimee and Michael’s wedding, the weather forecast was daunting. We were SURE we would run into rain but somehow the rain held off for us all day and started as we got into our cars to come home last night! What an absolutely beautiful, fun, heart-warming day! We started at the hotel with the girls then headed over to the Naval Academy to meet up with the guys. The chapel is amazing (if you haven’t been there – go!) and we even got special permission to go into the Superintendent’s gardens (unbelievably incredible). I am so excited to show you some pictures, but it will have to wait until this evening (Nancy and I are headed to Fauquier for the day to be showcased in a bridal show). Congratulations Aimee and Michael!!!

I found out last night that I was selected for the Nike Women’s Marathon in San Francisco this coming October! Yesss! Now comes the fun part – the training! I’ve gotten into trail racing in the last year or so and have been doing less road racing – it definitely comes in handy to be able to hop on the Appalachian Trail from almost anywhere around my town. Long runs never get boring! So – let the training begin! One of the perks of this marathon? Instead of receiving a medal at the finish line, you receive a Tiffany’s necklace – what girl doesn’t love that?

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am drawn to photograph places and things that most don’t photograph – burned out barns, torn down buildings, rusty silos, areas filled with trees that have limbs so gnarled they tell their own story. I love photographing all places but I am really intrigued by the emotion these seemingly “ugly” places pull. There is this old building/shack in Middletown that I love. I drive past it on my way to Stone Manor and am always fascinated by it! I WILL do a shoot at the shack! I just need the fearless couple to join me (if you want to participate in this shoot or know someone who does – email me – I will do a free shoot). Here are some pictures of it in all it’s beauty…

I finally met Matt for his senior portraits tonight – just in time for the rain to start! Luckily, we were beginning the shoot with indoor pictures for a performance poster that is being printed featuring him. This bought us just enough time to wait out the spring storm that was passing through and take advantage of some of that post-storm evening sunshine that is so luminous. I had a great time – and congratulations (ahead of time) to Matt!!

While I spend the day working, Kona and Leia keep me company while they lounge on their mini dog couch. Since I posted a picture of Leia last week, I decided my baby Kona deserves a post as well. Here they are – so cute!

Kendall and Michael – Stone Manor Country Club, Middletown
Date: Monday April 19, 2010Posted in: Photography, Wedding Photography
Yesterday, Nancy and I spent the day with Kendall, Michael, and all of their loving and supportive family and friends. What an incredible day! What started out as a cloudy, blustery, and chilly morning, turned out to be a beautiful afternoon with the sun sneaking out at just the right times to warm everyone up. We met the girls up in the bridal suite and were amazed by how calm and relaxed everyone was – a great atmosphere filled with excitement and happiness for the day! Kendall and Michael had an interfaith ceremony which is always so beautiful….and everyone was ready to party afterward and really celebrate the joy of the day! Congratulations, Kendall and Michael! We had a blast and hope you two have a wonderful honeymoon!

Meredith and Steven – E-pics!
Date: Sunday April 18, 2010Posted in: Photography, Portrait Photography
Yesterday I met Meredith and Steven for the engagement session at their new house in Frederick! The two moved into this super cute house the day the snow started to fall this winter for the BIG STORM! Meredith said that this worked out perfectly because, as a teacher, the snow days provided the time she needed to unpack and settle in. They have an awesome backyard and we had so much fun. They make each other laugh constantly and their laughing was very contagious. I can’t wait for your April 2011 wedding, Meredith and Steven!
