What a beautiful weekend! At the beginning of every winter, I remind myself that winter will come and go … and not last forever. By mid-winter every year, I begin to lose hope but then when spring arrives, I am so excited and thrilled with the beauty around us, it makes me believe that the real purpose of winter is to make us appreciate our earth every season change (with the exception of the change into winter in my case).
With the weather going back and forth, I somehow caught something and have been sick all weekend however mustered up enough energy to spend the afternoon in the park with Jason and the pups, my brother, and our niece, Ciana. Here’s a peek at our little girl.

Thank you for the many birthday wishes and kind words yesterday. Wow – so fun – I have the best friends and family in the entire world!
Jason surprised me with a PINK super computer he built along with a 30 inch monitor and 20 inch monitor for a completely new way for workflow. He even set it all up complete with pink backgrounds, my logo, and my images and beautiful pink lilies. What a wonderful husband! He also surprised me with a Creative hand video cam that I want to begin to play around with during shoots and events for a fun new look at Hough Photography. I’ll post something from that once I figure it out. So far the only video I have done is of my little kindergarteners saying their favorite things about spring to email to their parents today.
I will post pictures of my new set up soon. It is currently all set up in the dining room but in about 6-8 weeks, it will all be moved to their new home in studio #2 after electric, framing, drywall, and decor are finished (gotta love a 140 year old house)! Can’t wait!

We were playing around with light in NC this past week and I wanted to post a picture from this endeavor. Fun times — lasting well after midnight!

Also an update from the weekend. The Cake Dig was yesterday in Frederick that included a cake that was 4 ft tall. The two guys who were finalists were digging through the cake for about 45 minutes before one of them found the jewel that was hidden inside. It was GROSS but funny.

After our shoot at the ship yard, one of Millie’s photographers, Rachel, was hanging out and I snapped a quick picture because the late afternoon sun was peeking through so perfectly.

I have been SO busy this week between the workshop in NC on Monday, traveling back on Tuesday, headed back down to VA to catch my little friend’s dance show (she’s 7 and adorable … and I forgot my camera), and lots of meetings. Blogging has been done in a fly by manner but I wanted to include a few pictures from the 15 minutes or so that I spent with a family during the workshop down in NC. Such a cute family. Photographing kids and families are the perfect balance to photographing weddings and couples – I would never want to give either up!

So far, this has been an incredible week! I just got back from spending the last few days in North Carolina (Wrightsville Beach & Wilmington). I traveled down there to attend a workshop hosted by Millie Holloman – a photographer in NC who is amazing. Monday was the workshop and it was fun, crazy, inspirational, and more eye opening than I ever could have imagined. I returned more pumped than ever for what I have in store this coming wedding season!
Here are just a few photos I took on Monday (more to come):

As a side note, if you haven’t signed up to win the $24K for your wedding this weekend in downtown Frederick, see below, and sign up now! It’s going to be an insane day. Cake will be flying! Also get over to Colonial Jewelers to see the incredible jewelry they have displayed and of course, don’t miss the show pieces I have displayed in The Loft and lounge area!
