Last night, I attended the 2nd Annual Richmond IRSF Benefit. This is such a fun event, organized and hosted by inspired individuals and families, and attended by people who are so passionate about the cause. Putting all of that together along with a Low Country Boil and American Idol star, Angela Martin, and it’s bound to be a magical night. I just started looking at the pictures and will have them up in a gallery in the next few days. For those of you who attended the event, email me for log in information so you can relive the night and purchase keepsakes to remember the night for years to come.
The dresses were all hand sewn and represent the girls and women impacted by Rett Syndrome.

Emilie and Will …. they have Anna Cate (a wonderful girl impacted by Rett who’s picture is posted in the post below)

Here are a couple of pictures from the “heads and tails” game…

Some of you may remember a girl named Anna Cate who I took pictures of last year. Anna Cate is a beautiful person who has Rett Syndrome. This Friday, the 2nd Annual Richmond Fundraiser is being hosted at University of Richmond and this year the theme is: “Boilin’ Good Time”. Should be fun and it’s a benefit I look forward! Here is a picture of Anna Cate last year.

Tonight I am headed to the Mardi Gras Gala at Hollow Creek Golf Club in Middletown to photograph some of the craziness that is going on as well as fun portraits along the way. This gala is to benefit Remsburg Park – a new outdoor sports complex being built in Middletown. Should be a great time for a great cause! This group is partying late into the night so check back for pictures tomorrow….afternoon!
**The Gala was a SUCCESS! Everyone had a fantastic time, a lot of money was raised for a great cause, and Hollow Creek is still in one piece (or was when I left…). Enjoy some shots from the evening!**

At Hough Photography, we have just opened up our new to 2009 addition to our potrait packages: PORTRAIT PARTIES!

I spent Saturday evening in Frederick, celebrating the marriage of Marien and Tom. What a wonderful night! They had a gathering of their family and close friends. It was low key but wonderful. Marien’s two children walked her down the aisle and Tom was there to greet the three of them with a huge grin. After the ceremony, family and friends gathered to eat cake, drink champagne, and share stories and laughter.
Congratulations, Marien and Tom!!

Today I had girl friends over and the six of us had facials done by the talented and awesome Mary Kay consultant and good friend of mine, Dana. It was a great time to enjoy brunch, have some great laughs, and enjoy a few hours with just girls. Even the pups wanted to be included and at the end, jumped in laps to be part of the action.

Shortly after facials and brunch, we headed to my parents’ house for the family Soup Cook Off. We had 52 people, six soups, and tons of appetizers, breads, desserts, and drinks. My family is ever-expanding so there were lots of kids running around all day. I will include just a few pictures. After some intense judging, my 12 and 14 year old cousins WON with the baked potato soup. YAY! I made a jalapeno chicken tortilla soup that came in 2nd – not too shabby.
Madeline and her focaccia…

Jenna, one of our judges, hard at work!

Judges being told to hurry up!

Beer while we wait for the soup…

Happy birthday to lots of February babies, with a combined age of 293 years!

Successful, fun day!
Check back for wedding photos from Marien and Tom’s wedding tomorrow!

I hope everyone is having a Happy Valentine’s Day. I love this day, not because Jason and I do something any more special than any other day, but because a day dedicated to love just makes me smile. I am photographing a wedding this evening and then coming home to enjoy a wonderful, home cooked Italian meal with Jason and our good friends from Virginia. What could be better?!
Tomorrow, my girl friends are coming over to have a girls’ brunch and get facials done followed by my over-competitive family hosting a soup cook-off in the afternoon (each family has to bring a kind of soup and we have judges…I know, not normal). Anyway, lots to take pictures of and post about so watch for several posts in the next few days!
Remember to tell someone you love them today!

What a beautiful weekend! I fully enjoyed it by spending as much time outside as possible.
My indoor activity this weekend was photographing the annual Basket bingo at church – insanity (!) but so much fun! There were a ton of baskets and just as many door prizes and auction items. Every ticket was sold ahead of time and everyone had a great time! I was so happy to photograph.

Over the last week, I have met with at least one family or couple each day. I love meeting such wonderful people. Everyone comes in so energetic and we come up with great ideas. I absolutely love wedding season but even now, when it is just prep time for the coming wedding season, I like parts about the months of January and February because of having the time to sit down and have relaxing and inspirational conversations with lots of interesting people.
I have been working with one of my wedding couples to create their ‘Save the Date’ for their November wedding. We are working on a postcard using some pictures from their engagement session. We’re including most of the information on the back of the postcard because I wanted their pictures and date to create a bold statement together without distractions. Here’s a peak:

As I’m meeting with people and working on prepping for this year, I am so pumped and know this will be the best year ever! I have so many new ideas and am so excited about the people I get to work with!!
