The Clements Family

Posted in Photography, Portrait Photography at 10:37 am by Liz

On Christmas Eve morning, I met up with the Clements family at their home in Myersville.  What a fun group!  We took lots of family pictures and then small group pictures (which are so cute but too many to include so I stuck to the full family ones for the blog).  It was fun meeting you, Clements family!! :)

Christmas Eve

Posted in Life at 8:44 am by Liz

I can’t believe Christmas Eve is here!  I love this time of year … not for the cold weather (of which we definitely have…) or the awesome Italian food (which my mom cooks year-round…yes, be jealous) but because for a few days, the only plan is to hang out with family.  These few days can be a great escape from every worry and a time to relax and be thankful for the blessings around us.  I have one final family portrait shoot this morning and then Jason and I are spending the afternoon with my parents, my brothers, and our niece and nephew before going to the late church service.

Enjoy all of your plans for the holidays and check back in with me when you get a chance! :)

My brother put this picture on facebook and I just had to include it in the blog (even though it’s a fall picture):

Starting on the left, that’s me, my brother Tim, and my brother Dan.  Good times (and I was so much of an outdoor kid, my hair was never kept as neatly done as when I began the day every morning).

Adding to the beauty

Posted in Photography at 12:54 pm by Liz

The Fed Ex man just arrived and brought with him Hough Photography’s latest and greatest Nikon addition!  After signing and quickly telling him “Happy Holidays” I ran inside to open my first Christmas present (okay, so it was my present to myself but still!).  Now traveling around, I have three camera bodies that I love for all different reasons.  Just like when I had a status on facebook of “putting together presents for all of my brides”, my brother jokingly reminds me of the importance of monogomy  … who says I have to show loyalty to only one camera?!

Our real little baby…

Posted in Life at 9:32 pm by Liz

I realized that I only ever post pictures of our little Kona and don’t give our older girl, Leia, much press time.  While Kona demands our attention 99% of the time, Leia is our real baby since we spent 2 years with her before Kona came busting into our life.  So here is our Leia … isn’t she adorable?

Brooke and Paul – E-pics!

This afternoon, Brooke and Paul showed me a secret, hidden waterfall in the depths of Myersville – and it was absolutely breathtaking!  We began our shoot at Doubs then headed out to the waterfall where Paul proposed to Brooke.  We had a great time and got some great shots.  Yay, Brooke and Paul – I can’t wait until the wedding!!

Jenny and John

Posted in Photography, Wedding Photography at 11:47 pm by Liz

I just got home from spending the afternoon and evening in Brookeville, Maryland for the wedding of Jenny and John.  What a wonderful and happy day for the couple, their two families, and lots of friends who were there.  Jenny and John chose to see each other before the ceremony so when Jenny walked in to see John for the first time, he wouldn’t turn around but when he finally did, he couldn’t keep his eyes off her.  It was a beautiful moment.

The ceremony perfectly expressed their relationship followed by a very yummy dinner … followed by a reception complete with musical chairs and a cake eating contest.  Awesome.  I highly suggest cake eating contests from now on – it was hilarious!  Jenny and John also got each other pretty well while they did their cake cutting…for anyone who is getting married and thinking about whether or not to get messy with the cake, as a photographer, I have to suggest DO IT!  It makes for great pictures (I know Jason and I did at our own wedding and I told him he started it until we got our pictures back and it was all too obvious that I was the culprit).

Congratulations, Jenny and John.  Have a great time in New York’s winter wonderland! :)

Cassie and Bryant

Posted in Photography, Portrait Photography at 11:40 pm by Liz

This morning, Jason and I met up with Cassie and Bryant in DC for their long awaited engagement shoot.  Cassie contacted me long ago to schedule their engagement shoot and after tossing around a few dates, we worked it out just in time for the holidays!  It was cold - but not TOO cold and we had so much fun.  We began in front of the Capital then walked around the National Mall, and took some fun pictures at Metro Center.  Yay, Cassie and Bryant!  I can’t wait to photograph your wedding in 2010!

After having Bryant dip Cassie a few times, Cassie insisted it was Bryant’s turn … not before a quick spin first! :)

Don’t they look SO happy??

Cold weather portrait idea of the week :)

Posted in Photography, Portrait Photography at 2:53 pm by Liz

Have you ever been to a “paint your own pottery” place?  I know there is a great one near me: I Made This.  My family has had “girl’s outings” here and we always have so much fun and regret not having pictures of all the funny things that happen during our time there.  If you would like to have some portraits taken while you design your very own piece of pottery with your kids, with your fiance, or with your mom, email me at liz@houghphotography.com and I will give you $100 off your portrait session no matter how many people are attending your pottery party!

Set up an appointment and enjoy painting, pictures, and your very own pottery to take home.

Erin and Adam – E-pics!

Posted in Photography, Portrait Photography at 2:44 pm by Liz

This morning I met Erin and Adam out at Doubs in Myersville for their engagement session.  Our shoot was originally scheduled for earlier this morning but we delayed it by a couple of hours because Erin woke up sick with strep!  She was a trooper and we benefited from the warmth the extra couple of hours gave us.  I always love engagement pictures — it’s such a fun way to get to know a couple and how they interact with each other.  Just by spending 45 minutes with Erin and Adam, I could tell how much fun they have together.
