Grand Opening Success!

Wow – yesterday was SO much fun!!!!  We successfully opened the doors to our very own Hough Photography studio and it was awesome!  After Jason slaved away for the past weeks (or months…), the day finally came to relax and enjoy the hard work!!  My good friend and expert cake decorator from The Artful Cake LLC, Amanda Shafer, joined me in the day and together, we opened the doors at 10 am and had fun meeting and greeting people throughout the day until early evening!  It was definitely the most exciting day since Jason’s and my wedding a little over a year ago.  It was fun to meet new people, say hi to old friends, and welcome close friends from Virginia into our Maryland life.  So the doors are open — if you or anyone you know ever wants to just stop by, see the studio, and take a tour of our Victorian home, we would be more than happy to have you!  Just shoot me an email or give me a call!

Here is a peek at some of the day (through Jason’s eyes…) and I included renovation pictures so you can see the transformation!

I met with Tish in Alexandria, Virginia this past weekend to do some headshots.  Tish is a principal at an elementary school in Fairfax County and is getting a book published!  We had a great time near her school and got some great pictures.   Tish – congratulations on your book – I can’t wait to see it in print!

**Pictures coming soon**

Yesterday, I drove down to Gaithersburg, Maryland to meet little Ryan Easton.  He is just one-week old and so adorable.  He has a head full of dark hair and had moments filled with priceless face scrunches and sleepy smiles.  What a great morning!

Christal and Scott

On Saturday, I made another long trek to Virginia Beach but this time to The Hilton Oceanfront for Christal and Scott’s wedding.  I got to know Christal through a friend when I worked in Prince William County and am so excited I had the opportunity to share in their day.  They had beautiful weather (after I heard the stories of the extreme windiness on the beach during the rehearsal the night before) and just an awesome day.  The friends and family who came to support them were amazing (and it’s all caught on camera)!

C & S – have a GREAT time in Mexico this week!

Just a few words…

In the next week, I will be posting pictures of my brand new gallery and many other renovations to the house but before that time, I wanted to put up a few pictures I have taken during my few and far between “Liz times” in the last week.  The first is of my town, Middletown, from my front yard.  Many of you will probably remember I took this exact same picture right after we moved up here to show you what my street looked like.  Well the sky was pretty amazing one evening so I went out and took the same picture again.

The next two are of our puppies – Leia and Kona.  I’ve decided since I have spent Leia and Kona’s entire lives exploiting them, they are now ready to give me some sort of look.  I think they had a common theme recently of giving me a pout – to be translated as, “We hate when you take our picture and the least you could do is finish this house renovation so we could have a couch to lay on in peace again.”

Kona – 11 months old.

Leia – 2 and a half.

No time for the old blog…

I have **REALLY** neglected my blog recently … can you tell?

Between major house renovations, lots of wedding albums being designed, portraits every time I turn around, teaching, and the grand opening coming up in just 10 days, I have no time!  The good thing about the September 27th deadline we set for ourselves is that, when we finally get there, we will be DONE (for now…).

September 27th brings the Hough Photography gallery opening which is SO exciting!  It also brings the day Jason and I will be able to sit on our own furniture, in our own living room, and veg in front of our own tv for the first time since we moved in back in July.  What a concept!  Generally, I am not big on sitting around but this time, it will seem well worth it (for a day).

Incase you haven’t heard details, my gallery opening is from 10 am – 6 pm on September 27th at my home studio:

23 East Main Street

Middletown, Maryland

Feel free to stop by!  I am giving away free print packages to go with portrait sessions, and not one, but TWO grand prizes!!!!  Come check it out! :)

Tiffany and Brad

Through the rains, Tiffany and Brad exchanged vows this past Friday evening and it was beautiful!  We lived through Tiffany dashing through the rain from her car in her dress to a last minute sewing job just seconds before the ceremony – and we were even lucky enough for the rain to stop to a mist so we could run outside and take some pictures in the garden.

Congratulations, Tiffany and Brad!  Have an amazing two weeks in Ireland! :)

Catherine’s Family

On Friday, I was able to meet Catherine’s family near Culler Lake in Frederick, Maryland for an afternoon shoot that had been a long time coming.  Like many families, time just gets away without booking that special time to get everyone together (and invite a photographer along)!

Rachel and Kent’s Wedding

I truly apologize for this post taking so long – what a busy week!  Last weekend, Jason and I went down to Tuckahoe Plantation in Richmond, Virginia to photograph Rachel and Kent’s wedding.  We ran with both of them on Mary Wash’s cross country and track teams in college so it was exciting to have another team couple get married!  Tuckahoe is a gorgeous location!  The forecast had called for rain all day so we were prepared but it turned out to be such a beautiful, although HOT, day.  Everything was so much fun, the food and cake were wonderful, and every little detail was perfect!

Congratulations, Rachel and Kent — hope Costa Rica is awesome!!!
