As we are settling into our new home, our younger puppy, Kona, has decided she loves how many windows she can sit and gaze out during the day. Here are two pictures I took of her hanging out one afternoon…
Sara and Erich – Frederick, Maryland
Date: Monday July 28, 2008Posted in: Photography, Wedding Photography
What a day! Yesterday, I spent from 11 AM to 9 PM with Sara and Erich – it was amazing how quickly the day went by! From getting ready at Ceresville Mansion to the ceremony in downtown Frederick at Calvary then back to Ceresville, I spent the day with two absolutely amazing people (and families)! It was such a memorable day and we caught it ALL on camera! Some of the highlights included Sara fanning off before heading to the church, the HUGE smiles on their faces when they finally turned to face each other during the ceremony, the group shots at the pergola, and Erich singing to his bride.
I have so many wonderful pictures – here are a few of my favorites!
Off to the church …
It was way too hot in the bridal suite – perfect solution!
What a good looking group!
I thought this comic was the cutest touch to their favors!
Part of the candy bar!
Thanks, Sara and Erich – everyone had an awesome time!
CONGRATULATIONS!
Last week, I got to watch my niece while my nephew went to swim lessons. Ciana has the reddest hair and the bluest eyes. She’s beautiful and really growing up quickly! Here are a couple pictures from our morning together …
Yesterday, I trekked down to Hampton, Virginia to photograph Danielle and Shawn’s wedding at Langley Air Force Base. I was thankfully blessed with very light traffic for a Saturday morning, heading beachbound, which made for a great start to the day! I arrived in Hampton about an hour early and had time to grab some lunch and do a little shopping – which leads me to my first story (sorry to sidetrack…):
Chick-fil-A: For years, people from Fredericksburg have prided themselves on having their own, unique Chick-fil-A sauce, offered in big bins at every Fredericksburg location. I hear people travel miles to get this sauce (and my cousin Steven, a big Chick-fil-A’er, hits it up everytime he’s visiting from Georgia). I had heard a rumor that this special sauce’s recipe had been sold and is now offered at Chick-fil-As across the country so I had to find out. Sure enough, there is was – allbeit, a little more pudding like than we’re used to but the same taste. So next time you go to a Chick-Fil-A, ask for the special sauce and let me know what you think! Who knew Fredericksburg could be part of an American change…
Okay, back on track! I showed up at Danielle’s house to face the hustle and bustle of the last minute make up, jewelry, and getting dressed. The amazing thing was that one bridesmaid was on clock duty (which really NEVER happens) and they were down to the minute on everything! 29 minutes later, we were out the door and into the limo. I followed the limo driver first to a beautiful location with fountains throwing water as high as the business buildings! It was awesome! After some pictures, we began to caravan again – this time, the destination was the chapel. A few minutes later, the limo turned on a small side street … so I followed … right into the Dairy Queen parking lot. Out came the bridesmaids and Danielle and she said – “I haven’t eaten in a week and now the dress is on, so I need ICE CREAM!” Below are included some of my favorite shots – now I am a firm believer that every bride needs ice cream both in their dress and minutes before the ceremony!
The ceremony was beautiful and reception gorgeous! Everyone was having a fantastic time celebrating with Danielle and Shawn. It was a very moving day and I was so happy to be included!
Danielle and Shawn – enjoy your island getaway!!
Dairy Queen – best prep of the day…
Isn’t this a cool chapel?
Danielle and Shawn gave everyone Hershey’s hugs and kisses in a votive.
Check out Shawn’s shades…haha. I couldn’t help but laugh! It seemed perfect he had white shades for the wedding day!
Look at the height of that jump!
After much anticipation, my husband, myself, our two puppies, and my cameras (what, they don’t count as part of the family??) have moved into our *new* house in Middletown, Maryland! We are so excited to be here and are already hard at work developing the gallery/studio we are opening in the awesome front parlor (grand opening date set for late September – check back because it will be a big party!). Despite the boxes we are still tip-toeing around (and sometimes acting as if it is possible that if we squeeze our eyes shut tight enough they will disappear or unpack themselves…), we are settling in and loving the change! Our house was built in 1869 and is filled with stories and memories – perfect for a photographer!
Feel free to email me if you just want to stop by for a visit! I’d love to have you – and just because my studio is under construction, doesn’t mean I’m not making appointments (I have a 2nd studio set up in the meantime).
Here are some outside shots I took today – I’ll include inside ones over time!
Home sweet home.

The back of the house
This is the foundation to a barn that used to be right behind the house — we plan on eventually evening up the ground inside and turning it into a secret garden.
Currently growing out of the foundation…
A look at our backyard
Down Main Street – from our front yard — there are so many things to love about a small town (this view being one of them)! This is also a view at the beginning (and end) of my morning run each day!
On Sunday, I traveled down to Arlington to 1. Meet Karen and John for the first time EVER and 2. photograph their wedding. This is a very rare thing since I usually meet with all of my couples at least once before wedding day but Karen and I had talked numerous times and we were both set for the day! Karen and John had the type of wedding that reminds you that there is always room for the wedding day to be redefined to fit each individual union. It was an incredible day, a beautiful ceremony, and it didn’t hurt that Karen and John kept giving each other looks that spoke volumes about love all day long.
Karen and John – enjoy Cali!!
Hendry House – the best tucked away place EVER!
They were smitten (and no, I never use that word…it just seems to fit!)
I love the picture because they really look like the only two in the world!
Sneaking kisses
I think in total there were 6 cakes … and they did cake cuttings for 5 of them …. I could put tons of cake pictures up but I’ll save you from getting super hungry! They all looked fantastic!!
Leaving together as a married couple!
On Saturday, I was lucky enough to spend the day in Manassas, Virginia celebrating a wedding that I have been looking forward to for some time! Ever since this past spring, when I met up with Jennifer and Tom to do their E-pics at Great Falls Park (and they weathered the sleet, rain, and cold), I could tell their love was solid. As I traveled with the group from Jennifer’s house for getting ready pictures, to the church for the ceremony, and then onto the Lions Club for the reception, I felt like I was part of a story that had a great foundation and fantastic beginning to the next chapter in their lives.
Thanks, Jennifer and Tom (Thomas!) for inviting me to spend the day with you and your loved ones! I hope you have a fantastic trip to Aruba and wonderful 2 weeks off!
Shouldn’t every wedding day begin with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles???
Jennifer’s gift to her bridesmaids.
Awesome church!

The Shepard’s window – isn’t it incredible?
Ringing the bell outside the church – a tradition!
