Anna Cate

Posted in Photography, Portrait Photography at 5:33 pm by Liz

This morning, I drove down to Richmond to meet Anna Cate.  She was definitely ready to ham it up for a photo shoot!  We took pictures all over the house along with Anna Cate’s brother, Eli, and sister, Betsy.  The reason for the photo shoot was to get some current pictures of Anna Cate for the upcoming benefit for Rett Syndrome in Richmond.  Anna Cate has been diagnosed with Rett Syndrome but it hasn’t seemed to slow her down.  We had a great time and I look forward to spending more time with the entire family.  If you would like more information on the upcoming Leap Day event, please visit the Rett Syndrome Research Foundation website here.

My photo is in The Washington Post!

A few weeks ago, I received a call from Beth, a member of one of the families I took pictures of this past fall.  She was asking for my okay to release one of my pictures to The Washington Post for an article about her family in the travel section.  Of course, I was super excited!  So the picture was printed today – huge and in color!  The only downer is that the newspaper did not cite the source of the picture – something I see as potential copyright infringement … but nevertheless, I’m still excited to see a picture of mine printed in The Post!  If you happen to get a copy, let me know what you think!

Here is the picture that is in there:

Dabbling in cake decorating…

Posted in Life at 6:40 pm by Liz

A woman my mother-in-law works with wanted a Homer Simpson birthday cake for her husband.  Since I had made a diet pepsi cake for my brother-in-law this past summer and a hair dryer cake for my mother-in-law around the same time, my name was passed along as a person to ask to do this so I found myself almost knee deep in confectioner’s sugar and fondant today but after all was said and done, Homer Simpson cake delivered, I had fun doing it.  Maybe my true future is in cake art as well as photography … maybe not … but it’s fun to do every once in awhile.  While wedding cakes seem like they would be stressful, if you need a groom’s cake – I’m your girl!

Here’s Homer:

I had to watch The Simpsons the night before I made this to get inspiration since I have never really watched an entire episode!
