Tricia and David

Posted in Photography, Wedding Photography at 12:44 pm by Liz

I spent the weekend in my hometown of Middletown, Maryland to help celebrate the marriage of two people I went to kindergarten through high school with and it was amazing.  Spending time with Tricia and David before the ceremony was fun because they were both so excited!  The funniest thing had to be that David’s tux pants were somehow broken and up until ten minutes before the ceremony, he was still in his boxers with the groomsmen hard at work, fixing the pants with a butter knife.  Thankfully, they were successful and everything started right on time.

After the ceremony, we gathered everyone on the front steps of the church, stopped traffic, and took a HUGE group picture.  Great idea, Tricia!  It will definitely be a keepsake and the only time I’ve ever seen it done.  I may suggest this in the future… :)

I am hard at work on the pictures but want to share a glimpse of the day.  Congratulations to both of you!  I hope you had a fantastic week together in DC – the cruise in January will be great!!

A busy time!

Posted in Life at 8:25 am by Liz

This is an extremely busy time of year but I feel like I’m walking on clouds – I love it!  My niece was born last weekend which is amazing, I am in the last week of finishing my master’s degree, and I have many photo shoots lined up!

This weekend, my husband and I are helping our best friends down here move into a house they just built.  We’re so happy for them  – but not so happy that they have a ton of furniture…  I also have a family photo shoot today and tomorrow – and need to hide and put up the gallery of pictures from last weekend’s wedding.

Time has really been flying by and doesn’t seem to have a break until Christmas time.  But in that time, I have fantastic things planned!  Here’s an overview:

Photography – I have two engagement sessions, 6 family shoots, and a couple of low key events.

Life – I am turning in the final bounded draft of my thesis in the coming weeks and with that, will be completely finished my master’s degree!  My husband and I are discussing the possibility of moving closer to my parents (it’s not far enough to have any impact on the clients I already have) but we have to decide if that move will be sooner or later.

Travel – My husband, our cousin, and I are taking a trip through the New England states in the first week of December.  First to New Hampshire to see Graeme at Hillary Clinton’s campaign office, then down to Boston for a couple of days, maybe Providence, and then hitting up New York for one evening (I know – that’s not REALLY New England …).

Holidays – Jason and I are hosting Thanksgiving again this year!  This time, there will be 13 of us!  Us, his brother Wes, his parents, his cousin Steven, Steven’s parents, Steven’s grandparents (all four are from Georgia), my brother Tim, and my parents.  I love doing Thanksgiving and am really looking forward to the big crowd this year!

So lots of exciting things!  Photography has become my refuge.  I want to be doing it all of the time!  Meeting new people and seeing a glimpse of their lives together is so special.  No matter how busy everything else is, photo shoots are always something I look forward to!

Niki and Phill – E-pics!

Now, last Sunday, I spent part of the afternoon with Niki and Phill at Mary Washington doing their engagement pictures.  It was so much fun.  Being back on Mary Washington’s campus was awesome, it was a beautiful day, and Niki and Phill’s love for eachother really made the photo shoot so much fun.  I worked with Niki’s mom during the first few years teaching and she had always talked about Niki and Phill (and pretty much counted down the days until they could start planning the wedding).

We took pictures all around campus and even found one, forgotten Mary Washington College sign (which made Niki’s and my day!).  It was so much fun – I can’t wait until the wedding!!

Grant

Sunday morning, I had the opportunity to go to Occoquan to photograph Grant in his halloween monkey suit. He is SUCH a handsome little guy and seemed pretty happy … until that monkey costume went on! As soon as he was zipped in with the hood up, he decided that movement was just too difficult. It was hilarious!

Brooke and Mike – thanks for sharing Grant with me for the morning!

I think his look says it all, “Fine! I’ll give this crazy lady one look – hopefully it will get me out of this thing!”
