Summer portraits are coming to a close and it’s almost time to exchange the ice cream cones for apple picking and pumpkin patches!
What an exciting time! SO much is happening at Hough Photography and we’re so excited to share it! Here is the short list of exciting happenings:
* Next week, I am attending a workshop in Pittsburgh with an amazing children’s photographer from Australia and eleven other children’s photographers. We’re spending three days out on a gorgeous farm, photographing kids, getting inspired, and drinking tea (afterall, it’s the Australian way). Email me now to reserve remaining fall dates for your family and children’s portraits!
* In two weeks, we will be launching not one, but TWO brand new websites complete with new logos, updated galleries, and lots of exciting news! Nancy and I are SO pumped to share this with you!
* My photo documentation of the children, spirit, and rebuilding in Liberia, West Africa has been picked up by more galleries! I will share all details as show dates are set because I would love to have all of you at my gallery openings!
* Along the same lines, I am looking into more travel opportunities to create photo journals from around the world. I was recently asked about a project in Haiti to photograph the rebuilding of schools and the children and even though details didn’t work out for this month, it has inspired me to work toward more opportunities like this.

Catching fireflies and releasing them back into the night is one of my favorite parts of summer. They are so full of wonder and make every kid smile as each summer day ends and summer night begins. After catching fireflies last night, I took this quick picture.
I walked downstairs from working hard in my studio to see what the rest of the Hough household was up to and this is what I found…
I hope everyone has a happy and safe 4th of July! It is a THREE wedding weekend for me! So incredibly busy but I can’t wait. I *LOVE* all three of my couples and cannot wait to celebrate with them!
What an AMAZING weekend! This weekend was definitely crazy. I met an awesome family on Friday evening for some fun kid portraits, drove out to the eastern shore on Saturday for Kate and Ryan’s gorgeous wedding, and spent Sunday with Holly and Chris at their beautiful and inspiring wedding. I am SO excited to blog and share stories from all of these events and will be hard at work on that in the coming days but tomorrow, I leave bright and early for two sets of engagement photos with two amazing couples! Yay!
Also a HUGE congratulations to Jason (and Todd) on their absolutely incredible 50-mile race this past Saturday! I am SO SO SO proud and happy for them! Gotta love endurance running – it definitely holds a special place in my heart.

Tonight I was doing an engagement shoot with Holly and Chris. We started in downtown Frederick and just as we were finishing with location #1, a man ran toward us with a camera. He quickly explained that he is on assignment to blog one photograph from Market Street every day for a year and asked if he could photograph me photographing Holly and Chris. We thought it was a GREAT idea (of course) and let him become part of our shoot. I got home and saw that he had already blogged! YAY! And what girl doesn’t want her fame to come by means of a picture of her back side? Good times….

This morning, I had an art morning with my 2-year-old niece, Ciana, and my 4-year-old nephew, Elijah. After projects were finished, Elijah cuddled up with Leia to give her a little TLC. What a loving little guy. I’m a proud aunt!
Liberia, West Africa: Exhibit

I am so excited to share some amazing news! After taking time to reflect after my trip to Africa, I knew I needed to do something to share my experiences, images, and feelings from the trip. I want to raise awareness for a community and place so full of spirit and so in need of support. I have been asked to exhibit my images in an individual artist showcase exhibit starting in July. More details to follow….
My Hough Photography other half, Nancy, has also become known as “the dancing photographer”. We continue to build her reputation each weekend. A group of women were sitting together late in the night this past weekend, all dancing from their chairs following hours of dancing in heels, so Nancy pulled up a chair and joined them. It was priceless.
An easy way to get Nancy dancing is by playing Black Eyed Peas – she can’t resist it. Nancy – you’re awesome!!!
