Tonight I have an engagement session I have been looking forward to for….forever. I am so excited! As a photographer, I have found myself more in tune with the timing of the sun rising and the sun setting, the morning dew and the warm evening haze, and everchanging cloud formations and presence in our sky. Tonight seems like it will be the perfect evening.

Andrea and Blair – Vineyard wedding!
Date: Tuesday October 20, 2009Posted in: Uncategorized, Wedding Photography
This past Sunday morning, I met Andrea and Blair for their late morning wedding and brunch. For the first time all weekend, the sun peeked out even though it was still chilly outside. The day was so exciting! It was a small group but wonderful to watch family and friends come together to celebrate such a beautiful union. I did my first vineyard wedding a few months ago and absolutely fell in love with the location (and it’s great being so close to home). Congratulations, Andrea and Blair!

Jen and Lou – E-pics!
Date: Tuesday April 28, 2009Posted in: Photography, Portrait Photography, Uncategorized
On Saturday evening, I drove out to Baltimore to do Jen and Lou’s engagement session. We had a plan for locations we would hit up and we were in for some surprises. We were so excited to be at the bar where these two met and even told the bartender the reason we were there … only to be told, “oh, you are like the fourth or fifth couple to have met here…” This bartender needs to know no matter what, that is not the response that should be given! Even so, we had fun, took over the bar, and then headed out to our other locations. Yay, Jen and Lou. I am SO excited for your wedding at Black Ankle Vineyard in August!
The NEW way to have photos taken of your kids – PORTRAIT PARTIES
Date: Monday February 16, 2009Posted in: Uncategorized
At Hough Photography, we have just opened up our new to 2009 addition to our potrait packages: PORTRAIT PARTIES!
As a host of a portrait party, I will give you all of the items necessary to send invitations to your guests, inform you and your guests about the planning and ordering, and best yet, YOU will receive your portraits for FREE! You read it correctly. Just by getting together with all of your friends, you will receive an entirely free portrait session of your own kids. Your guests will just have to show up and have a good time. I will put together the schedule, take kids in 15-20 minute time slots, and have all images in online galleries for your guests to order all of their portraits.
Everyone puts off portraits of their kids and before long, you realize you missed a special time – here’s a perfect way to make sure you don’t put it off any longer. Email me now at liz@houghphotography.com to get details and host your own PORTRAIT PARTY!
A few weeks ago, I received a call from Beth, a member of one of the families I took pictures of this past fall. She was asking for my okay to release one of my pictures to The Washington Post for an article about her family in the travel section. Of course, I was super excited! So the picture was printed today – huge and in color! The only downer is that the newspaper did not cite the source of the picture – something I see as potential copyright infringement … but nevertheless, I’m still excited to see a picture of mine printed in The Post! If you happen to get a copy, let me know what you think!
Here is the picture that is in there:
P.S. – HAVE A BLAST IN DISNEY WORLD BETH & FAMILY!!!!
On our way back from our trip to Boston & New York City last weekend, we stopped by my brother’s house to take some pictures of our niece and nephew in their Christmas best! Elijah is 2 years old and full of energy – pure boy! And Ciana, going on 2 months old, suprisingly was very willing to get dressed up for the event!
Earlier this week, I met up with Susan, Paul, and their children to fit in some pictures for Christmas cards before the holidays begun. We met in the evening at their house, took some pictures around the house, and then jumped in the car to head downtown to take some pictures. Thankfully, the owner of Lee’s Ice Cream gave us full reign of his shop so we twirled around on stools and I even got to jump behind the counter for a bit!
I really enjoyed spending time with Susan, Paul, Madeline, and Henry (and look forward to having a sledding photo shoot with these guys in the winter!)!
